STEMCO names Jim Reis VP/GM of STEMCO Brake Products Group

STEMCO is pleased to announce that Jim Reis has been named Vice Presidnt/General Manager of the STEMCO Brake Products Group effective January 2010.  He will be responsible for STEMCO Duroline as well as any additional product extensions that fall within the newly formed Brake Products Group.

“Appointing a dedicated, experienced resource for the STEMCO Brake Products Group will serve us well as we focus on expanding our focus in the brake category,” said Jon Cox, Stemco President. “Jim has extensive experience at Stemco, and his leadership will be a key factor in strengthening our product mix in brakes as well as expanding our geographic reach.  Jim will be responsible for establishing a team of brake experts focused on foundation brake training, vehicle safety, product development and world class manufacturing.”

Reis’ most recent assignment was Vice President, New Business Development, at STEMCO.  He joined STEMCO in 1985 and has served in a number of management roles including District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Director of Marketing and VP – Sales and Marketing. He was also Vice President and General Manager at Garlock Rubber Technologies (GRT), another division of EnPro Industries.  Prior to joining STEMCO, Reis was employed by Automotive Brake.

In forming the STEMCO brake products group, we are also pleased to announce thatJeff Pond has joined the company as Regional Manager for STEMCO Duroline.  He will be responsible for STEMCO Duroline sales in the northeast region of the U.S. and Canada; as well as additional product extensions that fall within the newly formed Brake Products Group in those regions.  Pond joins the company from Carlisle where he served as a Regional Manager for eight years.  He was formerly a sales manager for several major distributors in the northeast for over eleven years.

In addition, Alan Matsumoto has joined the STEMCO team as Technical Service Manager for the Brake Products Group.  Matsumoto was recently Regional Manager for Webb Wheel and was formerly the Technical Service Manager for Carlisle for over twenty years.  He has a vast array of experience with foundation brake training and troubleshooting, TMC brake related study groups and has written technical articles for several industry publications.

“Both Jeff and Alan are experts in the brake category,” said Jim Reis, VP/GM of the STEMCO Brake Products Group.  ”We are excited to have them on board and know that they will greatly enhance the knowledge base and training ability of the entire STEMCO team.  They will be working with the existing 45 member STEMCO sales team to provide superior customer training and support in the brake market.”
