SAFETY TIP - Is RSD Spec'd Aftermarket Friction Right for Your Fleet?

RSD mandates require that all new trucks are spec'd to stop within 250 feet while loaded at their gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and moving at 60 miles per hour when they roll off the showroom floor. However, the mandates do not require that aftermarket replacement friction components are spec'd to those same standards.

In fact, RSD compliant aftermarket friction products tend to wear faster, glaze or crack, and can lead to higher instances of driver fatigue due to vibrations, noises and more aggressive stopping pressures. Before your fleet shells out extra for RSD spec'd components, do some research and make sure they're the right fit for your fleet.
